Why Don’t You Delegate?

As a female business coach, I realise the issues many of my perth clients face, trying to do everything within the business and not delegating their time effectively can be detrimental to their business. The key to maximising your strength as a business owner is to delegate tasks that can be done more effectively by others. Think to yourself, how many hours per week am I working, and do I want to be taking my work home? When I am not at the office, how does my team perform?

Your team is there to support you, so let them!

Delegating tasks not only benefits you, but it also teaches those around you helpful skills that can help them grow and develop within your business, potentially creating future managers.

To delegate effectively you need to better understand your strengths and weakness, what are you good at and what do you enjoy? Then analyse your team members, what are they good at, and what do they enjoy? Also consider your value for money; could your admin staff complete a task you are doing for $25 an hour?  This is where business coaching can assist you to think outside the day-to-day running of your business.

Once you have realised you skills, and your employee’s skills, you can appropriately delegate tasks that suit you..

So here’s how to do it:

  1. Talk to your employee about what you’d like them to do.
  2. Tell them why you’d like their help.
  3. Ask if they are interested.
  4. Outline what’s involved.
  5. Discuss and review how it worked with your business coach.
