How do you measure success?

As a female business coach, I talk to a lot of business owners every day. My clients are people who started with an idea on what they love and a dream of what they want their business to become. I find a lot of the time my clients feel unsuccessful, regardless of how well their business is performing.

It’s hard to know how far you’ve come if you haven’t sat down to measure the change from when you started to where you are now. Many people assume that being rich is a measure of success, and they couldn’t be more wrong. It is vital as a business owner to define what those things mean to you.

Don’t be so hard on yourself, meaning if you aren’t earning an income of $250,000 a year you can still be pleased that you made an increase of $30,000. It is important to reflect on the small goals, in progress of getting to the big.

Remember for 2014: The important thing when setting your business and life goals is to be true to what you really want and don’t set your goals so high they are unachievable. Never compare someone else’s success to yours; you are in a completely different situation, and what you wanted 5 years ago might not be what you want now.

“Whenever you want to achieve something, keep your eyes open, concentrate and make sure you know exactly what it is you want. No one can hit their target with their eyes closed.”
