I watched an amazing TED talk by Angela Lee Duckworth who explains that Grit is about having passion, perseverance and stamina for achieving long-term goals. She describes Grit as sticking with your future, day in, day out, not just for the week, not just for the month, but for years, and working really hard to make that future a reality.
I often refer to business and anything in life as a being marathon, not a sprint.
Developing grit all starts with a "growth mindset."
It's so important to have this before striving for any new goal. To get something different, you must do something different, and often this comes down to having a growth mindset.
It's why I go through this in the first chapter of my book, and why I often refer to it in my coaching practices and workshops.
It's often through our failures that we learn.
As Angela says, "We need to take our best ideas, our strongest intuitions, and test and measure them to see whether we've been successful... and be willing to fail."
What area of your business or life is challenging you right now? What can you learn from that to take your business to the next level?
