2022 Vision

The Power of Dreams

Not long after David and I were first married, we went to a business entrepreneur’s seminar in Melbourne presented by Zig Ziglar, the great American motivational speaker. One of the exercises in his seminar was to create our vision of what our ideal future would look like together. We could dream as wildly and as expansively as we wanted and include things in the short, medium and long-term future.

David and I started dreaming big, instantly energised and excited about planning our future life together. At the time, we had no idea just how life changing this exercise would be for us, nor how it would change the course of our lives. We came to learn that the power of dreams had a profound impact on determining whether you give up, or keep fighting.

In fact, whether in life or in business, the clearer you are on what success and happiness looks like for you, the more conscious you become of the choices you make. This awareness will inevitably lead you to creating the life you want to live. The truth is that dreams and plans are extremely powerful.

The Oxford Learner’s Dictionary describes having a vision as, “The ability to think about or plan the future with great imagination and intelligence.”

Business Vision

As a Business Coach, clients often ask me, “How long will it take to become successful?” or “What is the best business strategy?” or “What’s the difference between a successful business owner and one who fails?”

My answer is that it’s completely up to you and it depends how much you want success.

Having a business vision is the guiding light in the long-term future of what you would like your company to become or to achieve. It’s a short, positive, easy-to-understand statement describing the picture of what your company will look like in the future.

Whether you are starting out in your business and still in the dreaming phase, or if you have been running a business for a long time, it’s so important to have a clear vision. Write it down for all your team, suppliers and clients to be excited about. Everyone involved in making your vision turn into reality, should know and feel the vision in their heart and behave in sync with it.

Personal Vision

Your personal vision is different from your company vision. Your personal vision might be to eventually sell your business, retire and spend your days fishing.

A fun exercise I like to do each year is to create my personal Vision Board. It's a collage of pictures that I hang up on the wall at home to remind me what I want to achieve. Creating a vision board with a collage of pictures, quotes and images will inspire you to achieve your dreams.

It's a great visual way to motivate yourself, and will also act as a constant reminder and draw you closer towards achieving your dreams.

Vision Board

My team and clients came together last week for a fun and inspiring event to create our vision boards for 2022.

It was an awesome way to collaborate, dream, get creative... and walk away with a clear vision of what we want to achieve in our business and life over the next 12 months.

We also raised $120 for charity, which will be donated to Opportunity International to help micro-fund up to two small business owners in a third world country.

Below are some of the final Vision Boards that we created.

What is your vision for 2022?
